What happens during the initial English skills review?
The review gives Prep Up and the parent a clearer picture of how the child currently understands and expresses ideas. It is used to choose a useful starting point, not to label the student.
The expected review length is confirmed when booking because it depends on the learner's age and starting point.

Guided questions help the student notice important details, explain an interpretation and consider another perspective.

The student gathers relevant ideas, chooses useful language and decides how to organise a spoken or written response.
Express and refine
The student writes, speaks or responds independently, then uses direct feedback to improve clarity and accuracy.

What happens during the initial English skills review?
The review helps us understand how the student reads, organises writing, explains ideas, listens and responds. We use this information to decide which skills should receive attention first.
Which English language skills can the programme cover?
Students can work on reading comprehension, writing and organisation, vocabulary, speaking, listening and critical thinking. The balance depends on the student’s starting point.
How many students attend each session?
Sessions are limited to a maximum of two students per educator, allowing time for direct guidance and questions.
Does Write Away follow one fixed sequence?
No. Reading, writing, speaking and listening are connected throughout the programme, but the emphasis and sequence are shaped by the student’s starting point and progress.
How are parents kept informed?
Prep Up explains what has improved, which communication or literacy skills still need attention and what the student will work on next. Progress is reviewed using work from sessions and educator observation.
