What happens during the initial mathematics skills review?
The review gives Prep Up and the parent a clearer picture of how the child currently approaches mathematics. It is used to choose a useful starting point, not to label the student.
The expected review length is confirmed when booking because it depends on the learner's age and starting point.

What a Numbers Unlocked session can look like
Sessions adapt to the student's learning plan, but the sequence remains practical and purposeful. A session may move through these five stages.
Make the idea visible
The educator may use objects, diagrams or a worked example to introduce the mathematical idea clearly.
Check current understanding
Guided questions reveal what the student already understands and where an explanation is needed.
Apply the idea
The student works through a practical or unfamiliar problem and considers which method is useful.
Work independently
The student attempts a problem and explains the reasoning behind the chosen approach.
Review the next priority
The educator gives feedback, records what is becoming secure and identifies what to work on next.

Who is Numbers Unlocked for?
Numbers Unlocked is designed for learners from primary school through high school who would benefit from stronger numeracy, reasoning and problem-solving skills. An initial review helps us confirm the most suitable starting point.
What happens during the initial skills review?
The review helps us understand how the student approaches number work, explains their thinking and applies mathematical ideas. We use this information to decide what should receive attention first.
What mathematical areas can the programme cover?
Students can work on number sense, algebraic thinking, geometry, measurement, ratios, percentages, statistics, data and mathematical reasoning. The balance depends on the student’s starting point.
How many students attend each session?
Sessions are usually limited to a maximum of two students per educator, allowing time for direct guidance and questions.
Does Numbers Unlocked follow one fixed sequence?
No. It is a mathematics enrichment programme centred on numeracy, practical application and reasoning. The sequence is shaped by the student’s starting point and progress.
How are parents kept informed?
Prep Up explains what has improved, which ideas still need attention and what the student will work on next. Progress is reviewed using practice and observation from sessions.
